Lovehoney Positive Vibes Classic Vibrator Review
I’ve seen the slogan ‘Good Vibes Only’ on duvet covers, wall art, cushions and more… It is about time a sex toy manufacturer slapped the slogan where it clearly goes best – on an actual vibrator. I only wish the Lovehoney Positive Vibes Classic Vibrator was around at the start of my sex toy journey; I would have stuck this colourful toy straight in my online basket. It seems the ideal beginner’s sex toy: Budget-friendly, a fun design and made for both clitoral and vaginal pleasures. But, how did it actually perform when faced with my eager genitals?
Packaging
The simplistic packaging is just right for a low priced sex toy. The thin black cardboard sleeve keeps the vibe secure in transit and that’s all I’m really after. Except, batteries. I really would have liked the inclusion of batteries. I mean, who the hell has C batteries hanging around the house?
Design
The Good Vibes Only Lovehoney vibrator is made of completely body safe ABS plastic. This makes the surface hard, rigid and smooth. It definitely isn’t a vibe suited to the lovers of texturised sex toys. With an 8 inch length, 6.5 inches of which is insertable, it has a shaft capable of reaching the thrilling depths of most vaginas. The 4.2 inch circumference seems petite enough for beginners, but I find the hard, rigidness of the shaft makes it seem girthier than larger silicone sex toys.
The tip of this vibrator tapers to a point, making clitoral stimulation somewhat precise. It also makes insertion easier, but comes with more than a little discomfort when thrusting is attempted. It is kind of like stabbing my vagina with a – very pretty but very much pointed – stake.
Unfortunately, vibrators this budget-friendly don’t tend to come with luxuries such as being waterproof. The Lovehoney Positive Vibes Vibrator is only splashproof, so only really safe for a careful clean. No bath time orgasms for me then…
Rather than attempt to tell you how gorgeous the design of this vibrator is, I will let a picture do all the talking. It’s literally like they took summer and turned it into something I can fuck.
Functions
Lovehoney has definitely gone old school in the design of the Positive Vibes Classic Vibrator, with a dial at the base to control intensities. It does give a good range of power, starting with a barely noticeable buzz and gradually increasing to quite a roar. Unlike many vibrators though, I can’t use this and alter the intensity with one hand. I have to hold it with one and turn the dial with the other, which is unlikely to be a problem for everyone but can be a mild nuisance.
Vibes
There is definitely nothing old school about the intensity and rumble of this vibrator’s buzz. For such a budget-friendly sex toy, I am more than a little impressed with its rip-roaring capabilities and exceptionally grateful for the option to decrease its rumbling power. Who knew a battery-powered sex toy could pack so much of an orgasm-inducing punch?
Unfortunately, these impressive vibrations do come with a price – indiscretion. If you want a sly wank then, basically, you can forget it. This is the sort of vibrator that makes your neighbours say ‘For fuck sake, she’s at it again.’ Even my incohesive yelps of pleasure fail to drown out the Positive Vibes din.
Play Time
Clitorally
I am all about the clit stim so naturally, the first experience (as well as many subsequent experiences) I had with the Good Vibes Only Vibrator was clitoral. But really, could such a cheap vibrator provide my bits with enough of the good stuff to leave me singing? I seriously doubted it.
Isn’t it wonderful though, when a sex toy proves you wrong and leaves you a quivering mess of pleasure? On its highest intensity, this Lovehoney vibe had just enough juice and penetrating rumble to satisfy my finicky vulva. Whilst I did crave more precision, the tapered tip offers just enough for the precise stimulation lovers amongst us. And, the fans of broad stimulation are likely to get what their clits desire by utilising the larger shaft.
It’s not all praises from me though. The hard plastic pointed tip is just a bit too ‘stabby’ for such a sensitive area on my body. With only the slightest smoothing to the tip, it could have been a much more comfortable and pleasurable experience. If you prefer the gentle softness of silicone this is likely to leave you feeling like someones jabbed you with a vibrating stick as much as I did.
Vaginally
The Lovehoney Positive Vibes Classic Vibrator taught me a fair amount about my vagina. It taught me that I need some texture and I despise being internally stabbed at with hard, pointy objects. Even with a powerful rumble that reached the depths of my ass, I couldn’t find pleasure in the design.
My feelings certainly wouldn’t be true for everyone though, and it wouldn’t be a very useful review if I ignored that.
With a dollop of the slippery good stuff that is lube, the smooth shaft penetrates and thrusts with a gliding ease. Despite its straight rigid shaft, I was able to brush gently against my g spot, quivering it with the powers of the rumbling vibrations. It has the length to reach deep in the vagina, even stimulating as far as the cervix. Unfortunately, my g spot and cervix were both unappreciative of that hard tapered tip when I attempted a thrusting motion. With the vibrator stationary and an always required clitoral vibrator, I was able to reach an intense and satisfying orgasm. The rigidness makes every squeeze of my orgasm all the more noticeable, intensifying the sensations in comparison to softer internal toys.
Conclusion
The Lovehoney Positive Vibes Classic Vibrator is not perfect, but it is a fantastic sex toy for someone on a budget. Not only can it be used both clitorally and vaginally, it has shockingly impressive vibrations. As well as having a design that would brighten up any sex toy collection. In my opinion, this vibrator is a whole lot like marmite. Fans of smooth, straight and hard sex toys will absolutely love it. But, those that crave texture and softness are likely to find it, well, a bit crap.
